I fixed the issues with the bright spots and added a moonlight glow with the help of our lecturer, Lothar. Fixed the issue by fixing the textures so they matched the overall aesthetics to the rest of the church, I opened up the end walls texture in Photoshop and created a new layer, used the paint bucket to fill the layer in with a darker shade of brown/black and then change the blending mode to multiply. I then turned down the opacity, saved and applied to the model. I done this process for the gravestones, environment wall, grass and parts of the tower. In doing this it helped to reduce the light spots as well as fit into the scene much better. The problem was also coming from the inside lights since the shadow colour was what was effecting them to be so bright, changing the shadow colour to a darker shade of blue helped to improve the brightness issue. The next step was to add a moonlight glow over the side building. To do this we added another spotlight, changed the colour and shadow colour and ticked the option for barn doors. This option essentially changes the light to appear more of a rectangle/square shape rather than a circular shape. This light helps to bring out the window frame and help the light to wrap around it. Another spotlight was added just above this to create a nice moonlight effect whilst creating a shadow on the other side. All of these little changes helped to produce a nice looking night time scene. I then went home and checked other parts in the scene to see if anything else needed changing. Below is a render of my scene.
