CS Research: Dolphy Educational Games

Dolphy Educational games

Dolphy educational games is a company providing products that specialise in giving their games a personalised approach. When a mother or whomever purchases the game it allows the player to use their name and the game will talk back to the player using their name. This engages the player more into the game making it, well more personalised.

Structural Framework

How do the rules and conditions of the game create conflict?
Well, there are no rules per say other than complete the level that you are on, it’s not your typical game that we come to expect that isn’t an educational game.

Are players struggling against each other or the game or both?
The player of course can struggle against the game is the player does not know the question or puzzle presented to them. There are boundaries in the way of problems being between each other.

What are the interactive experiences provided for players in the game?
The interactive experiences for the player are provided in a way that the child can click, drag or type to solve the puzzle, there isn’t a whole lot of interactivity but enough so that the player can solves the puzzles or questions to move on.

Does interaction create meaningful play?
The interaction provided in game does create meaningful play, it allows the player to solve a puzzle or even a question and if they get it right then they get praised therefore making them motivated and creating meaningful play.

Aesthetic Framework

What are the possible visual influences?
Possible visual influences to be honest are that of the norm. The visual influences are possibly from a kids cartoon show or any other media of the sort. It’s a fun looking and quirky game that provides colourful scenery for the player to engage in.

Does the game offer inter-textual references?
Factual ones at most.

What other aesthetic qualities does the game present – movement, sound?
Everything about their games is fun, bright and colourful and this goes to be the same with the sound of the game, its fun. There isn’t really anything sophisticated about the game in anyway, sure it’s aimed at kids but still there could be more visual and sound aesthetics that are better quality.
